The life of a modern left-handed democrat.
Not a very good idea

Abortion. I think it is a tad, well, horrible. But I also think a woman has a right to choose. But one of my friends disagrees. He says it is utterly horrible, inhumane, and should be immediately outlawed.
Now, hes allowed to have his own opinion. But what seems to happen is whenever I make a good point about one of his views, he launches into this huge rant about how Democrats want to kill babies. He hides behind the issue in nearly every discussion we have. And then when I try to say something in defence, he says something like "Democrats want to kill babies, end of story." And then once I asked his opinion on stem cell research, and he said he was all for it. I just dont get this guy.
He brings up abortion so much, I swear that he is only Republican because of abortion. I dont think you should support a party because of one issue. after renouncing my former extremism, i went over the issues, saw each partys positions, and decided that Democrat was still the party for me (just no more extremism). Of course, like nearly everbody, I didnt agree with my party on every issue. On some the republicans seemed better. But I just agreed with the democrats on so many issues, and on the most important ones. So, if any of you are a party for just one issue, I beg you to look over more issues and see if they are really the party for you.

Abortion is a topic of religious fervor (even when you are not religious) so you will tend to find one-issue voters quite often with this as their one issue.

I agree, single issue is nothing more than single minded.

The "one issue" thing came up for me a lot in this election also. Living in a "red state" (Wisconsin), you can well imagine that most my friends are democrats. When we would talk politics a lot of them wondered how I could back Prs. Bush. They figured that since I am a war vet, I would automatically feel a kinship with the war vet on the ballot.

I just looked at them and said, "well, if that is all the thought I put into my vote, I guess if Timothy Mcveigh were running, would you wonder why I'm not backing him?" ;~D
